I've just had to go over and choke one of my lovely colleagues. I don't know how it happened, but I was completely unaware of the launch of DSW's online shoe store, which opened today! Within 45 seconds of visiting the site, I had already gotten myself a pair. I had to force myself to close the browser. I think I'm going to go choke her again. Shoes are definitely one of my vices and so, with that being said. I'm going to spread the misery. Hehehehe.... evil Duchess.

Hi Divas. It's Tuesday and this morning I looked through every single article of clothing I had trying to figure out what exactly to wear. Now it's still early Spring and there's still some cool crispness to the air. So what do you throw on "casually" when it's not cold out but not exactly hot either? Hmmm.... I made due with a linen shirt and pants with a matching chic cotton, wool and angora sweater. I think I made out just fine. Interior Headaching...

Greetings and salutations Divas,

Now I told you that I just bought a condo and I am in the midst of decorating my space. Now I need my fabulosity to extend to my living quarters because I must and I mean must have a posh place that's dinner party worthy while at the same time uber-chic and comfortable. "Good Girls" Back in Fashion?

What's going on? So here's the thing... I was watching E! News last night and they were talking about the "good girls" in celebrity-ville and the secrets to staying out of trouble. Is it just me or is the secret to staying out of trouble as simple as following the rules our fabulous mothers laid down when we were little. Stand tall. Sit up straight. Cross your legs at the ankles and not at the knee (especially when you have a skirt or dress on). Don't be loud. DON'T DO DRUGS! DON'T SLEEP WITH EVERYONE!!! Seriously, what's between our legs is a lady's most precious treasure. Please stop handing it out to every scrub that gives you the time of day.

(Huff.. huff.. huff.....)

OK. Now that I'm off the soap box. The news segment mentioned a few names of ladies that were living the fabulous life AND staying out of trouble. Girls like Miley Cirus and Hayden Panatierre. Too Much Sexy in 2008

Bonjour ladies,

So I've been doing a little thinking and have vowed to wow in 2008. Then I got to thinking, what exactly will show sexy in this diva-stating new year? Will it be fabulous fashions, European rides, trips abroad or new electronic gadgets that will usher in the hotness? While all of that is well and good, I decided to make some sexy life resolutions in 2008. So vanity aside, here's my list of sexiness for 2008. I hope you can feel me on this....

The Duchess

1. Financial Security - Sexy

Divas, too often we run to Neiman's or Saks or Barneys or Bloomingdales... log onto shopbop.com, net-a-porter.com, eluxury.com -- or whatever happens to be our particular poison of choice -- knowing good and doggone well we can't afford to purchase those $1400 Christian Louboutin leather boots. Fabulous as they might be (and trust me, I know they're fabulous) first things first. Let's not jepordize the mortgage or the rent (we'll get into this a little more later divas... -- by the way, why in the HELL are you buying Loubous and you don't even own your own pile of bricks) for some shoes that may be the hotness at this particular moment but you won't look twice at them next season. Not a good look ladies.

So here's what you do. Get yourself a budget. Freeze your credit cards -- literally -- if you have to, we've all seen the commercial of the young lady trying to chip her credit card out of a block of ice. It's definitely a means to an end. Personally, if I want to save and I don't trust myself... I just leave the plastic at home. So even if I do see something that I absolutely wouldn't be able to live without, I'm forced to... unless I decide to steal it and that's definitely not my steelo. The Duchess does NOT look good in horizontal black and white stripes. After you budget, give yourself an allowance. Here's where vintage shopping can come in handy and also be a lot of fun. Check out your local shops and get your "deal of a lifetime" on.

So when you're budgeting remember these things:
A. Live within your means -- Diva, if you can't afford that Benz, those Manolos AND the rent. Let it go. Drive your Acura, step out in Nine West and pay that rent on the first and not the 5th. You will still be fierce and fabulous.

B. Realize your personal goals -- What do you want out of life? Make a decision, write out your game plan and get to it!

C. Spend effectively -- There's a reason it's called an impulse buy. You DO NOT need yet another pair of Rock and Republic jeans for more than $200 bucks a pair. Put them down and walk away.

At any time you should be prepared financially for emergencies, regular bills and utilities and the occasional personal treat.

2. Owning Property -- Super Sexy
There's not too much guess work in this Divas. Why pay all that money on rent when you can buy. It just makes sense. Let me tell you, I lived in an apartment (fabulous as it was) for more than six years. That's an estimated $72,000 that I wasted--yes wasted--on something that I will never own or have a piece of. Even though I did have shelter, that's like paying $72,000 to drive a car but then having to give it back without anyone ever remembering that you had it at all. Nothing to show for your hard earned finances. Whatever. Times are a-changin' and we need to get with it.

And to what I was saying a bit earlier... YOU BETTER NOT BE DRIVING A $60,000 CAR AND WEARING $200+ SHOES LIVING IN AN APARTMENT!!!! Let's adjust our priorities. Fabulosity is real when you own EVERYTHING you have.

It's definitely been a long time for the Duchess. I apologize. But can I tell you that life has found it's way to my doorstep and I have been so busy. I didn't mean to neglect. Please charge it to my head and not my heart. I fully intend on becoming more regular again. But it's a new year and new things are happening in my life. Bonjour Divas!

I've been pulling out my coats and heavy sweaters daily now and I am absolutely LOVING it! I even hear rumors of snow flurries later on this week, which is bringing me great joy. It's almost that season ladies, and no I'm not talking about winter. I'm talking about the shopping season! This is the time of year to spend, spend, spend without guilt or buyer's remorse. And let's be honest, the dreaded B.R. attacks even the best of us. But not at this time. Department stores are getting into the spirit earlier and earlier and the sales are getting better and better. So if you've been hiding that credit card away (I have to admit that I haven't), it's time to pull it out, dust it off, and get to swiping that plastic. Now don't overdo divas. Remember, what you charge, you must pay, so if you're on a budget, do your best to abide by it. And that's all I have to say about that.

In other news, I've been looking in the fashion mags and watching television to see who I thought was actually doing big things in fashion these days. And I must admit, I'm really feeling Mrs. Posh Spice. Honey is working her rags from face to foot and the program that she's on.... yeah, definitely feeling that. So we'll glance at a few of her best looks and oooh and ahhhh at the magnificence that is Victoria Beckham.

I also have a thing for Chanel (doesn't every Duchess?) and so we'll take a look at her Fall 2007 line. It's classic Chanel that will make us all feel like the feminine women that we are. After that, I'll show you a more daring line given to us by Dean and Dan... otherwise known as Dsquared2.

So without further ado, let's do what we do best. Stay warm. Stay fierce.

And on occasions such as this, when I have extra time, I'm able to walk into my closet, take a stroll around and revert to my younger years when I had fun playing in my clothes. Bonjour Divas!

I woke up this morning and there was a crispness in the air that I have been waiting for all year long!!! I was so excited and knew exactly what I would be reaching into my wardrobe to adorn my body with. I recently purchased a new black sweater that has very intricate details and makes me feel so feminine and fabulous. I've been waiting for just a day as this to wear it and let me tell you, I was not disappointed.

So with that being said, this is the season for sweaters so we'll talk about that. And I'll be highlighting Christian Dior as the designer to look out for. The Spring 2008 line is so divine it's insane and you'll definitely want to see what's coming up.

GRIN and BARE it!!!

According to our in-the-know friends on the fashion circuit in NYC and fashion directors at Bloomingdales, "lingerie items have become display pieces" and we're beginning to see it on the runway. Even though I'm enjoying this crisp fall weather, Dior has me anticipating Spring. Their 2008 line is so sophisticated and chic. This has already worked out to be a whirlwind week. There's so much going on with me right now, I just don't know where to begin. And pardon my lateness on the update, I've been meaning to touch base for a couple of days now, but like I said, the Duchess has been busy. First, I'm just going to highlight my weekend because boy was it shop-tastic! Once again, I went into the stores and lost my mind. I shopped out Neiman's and went into cardiac arrest at Saks, but my checkbook AND my credit card are both recovering nicely. I have to let you know that if you consider yourself a true Diva, then you absolutely, and I do mean ABSOLUTELY must have an Hermes scarf. No excuses. I'll tell you why later. (wink) Also, I kind of liked the designer highlight, so I'll keep that going. This week I'll let you know what's going on with Rag & Bone and Milly. You'll want to be paying close attention to both of these because the fall/winter lines are HOT HOT HOT!! And just because it's football season, I have to give it up to my team the Dallas Cowboys! All the haters can just take a seat. But I'm not going to focus really on America's Team. I feeling like showing a little love to America's Sweethearts, the cheerleaders. Vanilly gave Milly a really bad name, but Michelle Smith revived it for all of us glam queens! Milly is quickly becoming one of the hottest names in fashion, acting as the goto line for sleek pieces made with supple fabrics. True to her tagline, "Sexy. Feminine. Glamorous. Sophisticated. Milly.," Smith is giving other designers a run for their money, literally. Take a look at some of her Fall pieces.

Milly burst onto the scene in 2000 and is moving, full steam ahead, with a timeless style. You might have seen some of the pieces on Cameron Diaz, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Aniston. The goal of designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright was to fuse history, authenticity and fundamentals into clothing and thus, Rag & Bone was born. Now the name sounds pretty grungy right? But, trust me. The pieces are anything but. The name actually honors an English tradition of the rag and bone man who would gather scrap metal, old furniture, wood and anything else that would help sustain him. So truthfully, think of it as the first form of recycling. Back then, the rag and bone man would trade candy and sweets for scraps for his cart. Today, we trade Hamiltons and Franklins. Her Hermes

Now I told you that I would tell you why you have to have an Hermes scarf to officially be a B.A.P. and that's exactly what I'm going to do. Hermes represents the epitome of luxury and style and basically, if you want to represent that, then one of these pieces must be in your collection. Period. When I tell you, it is the softest silk you'll ever touch and you won't be angry at the $300 you dropped on a square of fine fabric, you'll pay attention. Take for instance the orange Twilly scarf represented to right in the classic Hermes orange. Wrap it around your one of the handles of your Chanel, Chloe, Kooba, Louis or Gucci handbag and sweeten your arm candy.

The classic orange is unmistakable from a mile away and will always bring you complements from people wanting to steal your style. What you probably don't know about Hermes is that it began as a saddle company in Paris 168 years ago under the name Hermes-Freres. You'll definitely remember the famous Kelly bag (pictured below) that the Diva Grace Kelly used to eloquently hide her pregnancy. That actually debuted in 1956 and, like mama always said, "Class never goes out of style." Now the scarves, datebooks, Birkin bags and other accessories are some of the most coveted items out there.

Now do I need to say anything more? If you don't have something Hermes, go get it. Now. Pass go. Collect $200. You'll need it at the register.

America's Sweethearts

What can I say about the Dallas Cowboys. Nothing else, but I LOVE them!!! I sit in front of my television every Sunday and hold my well-manicured hands to my face in hopes that Tony Romo will throw a perfect touchdown pass. And when they find themselves in the end zone, I jump up and high-kick my way around my coffee table and give the jazz hands, singing praises of how I looooovvvveeeee those Texas boys. In my other life, I must've been a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Since I'm not, I'll pay homage to the Duchesses that are holding it down on and off the field.

Here's the dish on the Divas:
1. Deryn Dberbigny - She's 25, from New Orleans and wants to direct her own NFL cheerleading squad. 2. Nicole Hamilton - She's 24, from Nashville and hopes to open her own dance studio and spa. 3. Ryan Ray - This diva is 22, from Fort Worth and is looking forward to a career in speech pathology. 4. Tia Williams - Honey is 23, from Sapulpa, OK (where?) and wants to start her own denim line for women. 5. Ally Traylor - She's 22, from St. Louis and wants to open her own dance wear boutique. 6. Carman Butler - Miss Thing is 33, from Omaha and looks forward to opening a non-profit that will look out for the health and safety of children, seniors and animals. 7. Dara McFarlane - This Duchess is 18, from Nassau Bay and wants to be a publicist! (Like me!)

Salutations to all of my fierce fashion femmes!

I've been away for a bit, but I'm back in full swing. I had some crazy person crash into my convertible so I had to take care of my beautiful self for a few weeks. But I'm ready to dish and am loving some things that I've been reading about in the style mags and on the Internet.

I thought I'd do something a little different this time and highlight one of my favorite designers, Alice + Olivia so be sure to read up on that. I'll tell you where you can go to buy choice items from their fabulous line.

I also thought that I'd spotlight a few runway divas, since our most coveted items are featured on their svelte bodies during fashion shows in NY, Paris and Milan.

Don't you just love it when you see your sepia skin-toned sisters doing positive things with their lives? I know I do. In honor of living large and feeling fierce, I'm highlighting two Divas that are currently killin' it on the runway. You may know one as she's been featured in Sports Illustrated (I ain't mad at you girl!) several times and the other you'll recognize from Top Model fame. First off, Jessica White.

Now, here's YaYa DeCosta. You remember her from Tyra's America's Next Top Model. She was the runner up. Yep, and she didn't fall off the map like so many others did. She went on to do big things. She was featured in several movies, you'll most likely remember her in "Take the Lead" with Antonio Banderas. She had a rough home life? Well, her life certainly does not imitate her art now! She's signed with Model 1 in Europe and Ford Models here in the great U.S. of A. Oil of Olay has used her flawless face to push its products and she's also washed her tresses in Garnier Fructis. Fashionistas!

I hope you haven't missed me. I've been busy doing fabulous things and trying to keep myself looking uber-fabulous at the same time. There are definitely a couple of things going on in the fashion world that we should all be paying attention to, especially in the what's hot category.

Also, have you ever been watching a movie or television show and thought to yourself that you'd give a pair of Manolos and a Hermes bag to rock one of the fierce looks that you see on the silver screen or Dr. 90210 "Boob" tube? Well, if that's you--then you're definitely like me and we're going to be exploring that along with taking a look at some of our favorite Divas that we should be paying some serious attention to. And speaking of television, I'll talk about some of the shows that I'll be sure to DVR so I won't miss out while I'm out and about making waves in the PR world.

LUXE LEATHER

So if you don't have a leather jacket, I suggest you get one. The word on Fifth Ave. is that leather will be in full swing this fall, especially that of the motorcycle jacket sort. And some of our favorite designers are certainly putting their all into jacket designs because there are more than a couple that I'm coveting right now. Look at these three from L.A.M.B. and Mike and Chris. The first is the L.A.M.B. Military (shopbop.com) the middle is a leather Hoodie from Mike & Chris (shopbop.com) and the last is another L.A.M.B. creation--motorcycle classic.

Leather jackets aren't the only thing that seems to be coming back either. Remember leather pants? Well those are seeming to make an appearance too. I'm still not sold on the idea, on some people they represent a major fashion oh-HELL-no, but if you're feeling it, take a chance and just make sure you wear them well. You can find some nice pairs at Victoria's Secret online and always at Wilson's Leather.

I'm going to be a SUPERMODEL...

Ever since I found "Clueless" with Alicia Silverstone and Stacy Dash (where in the Holy heck are they now, anyway) I've always remembered these lyrics:

"I don't care what my teachers say. I'm going to be a supermodel. Everyone will want to dress like me, wait and see. When I'm a supermodel. And my hair will shine like the sea. Everyone will want to look just like me. 'Cause I'm young. Hip. So beautiful. I'm going to be a supermodel..."

That's almost my theme song on some days, and I'm sure the everyday mantra for the new contestants of this season's America's Next Top Model - Season 9. Can you take it? A new bevy of beauties will be vying for the Top Model title and hopefully this season will produce another Eva the Diva, who, as you probably noticed, is the Dime spotlight this time.

The jean scene will be in full effect this fall with all of my Fashionistas rockin' the high-waisted, wide-legged denim jeans and slacks. I have a pair already and they are EXCELLENT for my figure. I feel like a superstar in my pair, which are by Seven for all Mankind. But a number of designers are making these available to us, from Eve's Fetish line to XXXX to XXXX. Price points for these can be pretty steep, so if that concerns you, you might want to shop around a bit before investing. You may want to just start shopping around anyway because there are so many cuts and styles, you might find yourself in a wonderland of pants. I can tell you that I saw mine earlier this year, before the big whoop and people were thinking I was quite possible taking shots of Jack, but a trend-savvy chica like myself knows these things. Now everyone is asking me where I got them. Ha! Take that! Check these out...

Classic BEAUTY

I'll be the first to admit that I don't have flawless skin. The very first one. I've been up and down, down and through some of the best skincare lines that department stores have to offer in search of the products that will make my skin glow like Gabrielle Union's or Jada Pinkett-Smith's.

So I've promised myself that I'll be heading out to Sephora to pick up the latest goods from Carol's Daughter, whom I've heard has some simply sinful beauty products that will have me glowing like the Hope Diamond. You should check them out with me and use them religiously and we'll achieve that skin goal together.

And once that face is clear, dust a light coating of Prescriptives Custom Blend over your flawless face and have yourself a cocktail.

Greetings and Salutations Divas!

Not too long ago, I was speaking to a super-savvy Duchess about the fabulousness of her world and it got me to thinking. Now what she told me wasn't really earth shattering news but it did bring up some thoughts in my mind. She called me to tell me about her B.A.P. outing with a few of her lawyer colleagues (Yes! She is Flyy and Fab) to a hot sushi spot in Vegas and then on to have a little session in retail therapy at the Fashion Show Mall.

After we finished talking about socialite circles and what's hot and new, I thought to myself, there needs to be a lot more of that going on. I definitely need to be hanging more with women who are on the same level that I am. I need a group of women who knows who I'm talking about when I say Ella Moss or Tory Burch or Vince. I don't want to have to break it down for each and every single person. Does anyone feel my pain, here?

As young, fierce, and intelligent women we have to represent. Put that spandex and unmentionables-revealing mini skirt back in the closet -- better yet, burn them and let's prove ourselves to be the vixens that we are. When we walk into a room, we DO NOT want to be mistaken for the uninformed, underperforming, intern. So please, act like you know.

'Dreaming' of 'SEX'

My fellow Vixens, it's been a long time coming, and yet we STILL have to wait a little while. However, I will wait (most eagerly) for Sex and the City: The Movie to come to theaters so I can see my girls, SJP, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, in action again - wandering the streets of New York City in high fashion and loving each and every minute. I'm not the only one who's had that dream though. A Vixen has emerged and will join the ladies of 'Sex' in the new movie as Carrie Bradshaw's assistant. Who's that girl you ask? Why none other than Miss Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirl, Academy Award winner, songstress and all-around dynamite in an unmarked package!

Miss Jenn will play Louise, a fabulous assistant to Carrie -- hmmm... can we conclude that Carrie has made some vicious career moves? Without giving too much away, the studio has told insiders that the story will be set four years after the HBO series finale. So let's think about this... four years after Big (who will be returning courtesy of Chris Noth - THANK GOD!!) went to Paris and swept Miss Bradshaw off her feet. Could she be Mrs. "John" by now?

Anywho... I digress. Back to J-Hud. She is really doing big things right now. In addition to this role, she's recently completed Winged Creatures, an ensemble drama featuring silver screen greats Forest Whitaker, Kate Beckinsale and the little (or not so little anymore) Dakota Fanning. That project is due out next year and as if it waiting at all isn't torture enough, there's no word on a release date for Sex.

Greetings and salutations Divas!

I hope you had a good Labor Day holiday. I certainly did. This Duchess definitely needed that long weekend like nobody's business. But it's back to work with me and definitely a new day so let's get to talking about what's happening in the world of fashion, fun and fierceness!

So like I said already, your girl is ready for fall. I actually took myself shopping this weekend and snagged up some of those fabulous Labor Day sales (where I could find them) and now my cute Gucci wallet is screaming for the Lord to save it from my relentless opening and closing. My credit card is begging for mercy and will probably need immediate medical attention from all the swipe burns I inflicted on it. I sure hope it recuperates before my birthday rolls around or I might get myself into some serious trouble. Somebody call the law!!! I didn't buy everything though, I had to save some items for my wish list, which I'll pass around for my sassiest peeps to figure out what I'll be receiving on the day of all days, my birthday, which happens to be rapidly approaching. I'll discuss more of that fabulousness a little later.

Also, since the fall is approaching, let's make a pact, Divas, to update our music and reading selections so when the cold does roll in, we're super set to stay inside with a nice glass of pinot grigio and a soft and warm cashmere throw from Saks. I'll put my list of favs to get, so scoot that mouse over to the right and get to browsing. At this point, it doesn't hurt to get a Barnes & Noble or Borders membership. Intelligence is sexy ladies. Very, very sexy.

So without further ado, let's get to the biz ladies. Are you ready? One, two strap on your new Chanel shoes. Three, four new bag from Christian Dior. Five, six don't forget your MAC lipsticks. Seven, eight go on a sexy date. Nine, ten gonna swipe your card again....

The Fashionista Diaries

Now Divas, I know that you've been searching for that show that you just have to see since Sex in the City left us, what seems like many, many moons ago (but Hallelujah! there is a God, there's a movie coming out to save us from our despair and post-season finale withdrawal) but here's something for us all. A new show on SOAPnet (ladies, please, please, please get cable - or pay your cable bills ) called The Fashionista Diaries, which I know they made just for me. Now if I was about 8 years younger, I'd definitely throw in my bid to be on this fabulous show so I could show those amateurs how a real Diva gets down. But there's one Duchess holding it down for us on the show. She goes by the name Janjay and she's an assistant at Flirt! cosmetics.

You might laugh it off, but this 22-year-old Honey is doing her thing and making all her colleagues sit up and pay attention. This is definitely a great way for her to make her mark in the hustle/bustle/never stop and always shop Dime's paradise called New York City! According to her bio on SOAPnet.com, Janjay's dream job is to do public relations work for a major fashion house (I ain't mad sista, I'm a PR diva myself). her style icons are Beyonce, the illustrious SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker for you know-nots) and Nicole Richie.

Janjay says, "I would describe myself as sophisticated chic with a trendy twist. I really don't believe that fashion has any rules, so I love doing looks that are wrong but sooooo right!" Check out the rest of her interview here.

Then they'll pop your hand for trying to touch the leather. They'll put a dent in your wallet to the tune of $800 - $1,600 or more.

While you're still in the spending mood, don't forget the Downtown Tote by YSL. That puppy is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Oh, and let's not forget ex-pen-sive! This one will set you back anywhere from $1,500 to $2,200. But if you just so happen to have it like that, more power to you. Salutations to you, Devastating Divas!

I'll tell you what, I'm so ready for Fall I can hardly stand myself. I'm ready to break out my sexy sweaters, beautiful boots, serious scarves and all my other cool weather gear. Seriously, the summer can go on about it's business.

I've been perusing some of my favorite boutiques and online shop sites and I've found myself with a serious problem. I want EVERYTHING!!! No doubt I have to control my materialistic tendencies but I really can't seem to help myself sometimes. There are certain things that I just have to have. Like some of the upcoming pieces that are in my favorite designers lines -- you know the names, Diane von Furstenberg, Joie, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Cynthia Vincent.... I could go on and on. Just let me ask this... can I please hit the lotto? I mean pretty please? Because with my wish list and my bank account, some things just won't get done. But you know how we do sometimes, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle and maybe... just maybe... those new Loubou's will be ours. For instance, check out what's going on with Michael Kors (courtesy of FNL) ...

... Lord help!!! I wonder if I can "Look for Less" any one of these Duchess-standard looks so they can find themselves stored in my fabulous closet. If not, Mr. Kors -- holla at your girl. ;)

Tress to Impress

Now we all wonder, the fabulous foxes that we are, how to always maintain a healthy head of hair. I know I'm always looking for the next best thing that will give me bounce, volume and flow. So I've looked high and low, under rocks, in the mountains... (ok.. ok.. I'll stop) But I seriously have been looking and I just can't seem to find that one stylist that gels with me. So I've been skipping around a lot. Ladies this is your cue to let go of those secret salon locations.

Until we can find those perfect hair secrets though, here are a few tips on how to keep it swingin':

Be a super smart shampooer. - Ladies, let go of that once a week myth. Depending on what type of hairstyle you're rockin' you have to cleanse your your hair between 1 and 3 times a week. Remember to work from the roots to avoid tangles, too.
Condition, condition, condition. - After you shampoo put the good stuff back in your hair with a rinse out conditioner. Don't skimp on cheap products, get a good one with protein.
Trim your ends. - I know, I know. It looks like it's growing doesn't it? Well, you want to keep it that way so chop those split ends off and send 'em packin'. You don't want those splits to travel up the hair shaft and cause more drama do you? I didn't think so. A duchess is definitely drama free!

With precious gifts from God, she has blessed us with a powerful voice, sassy fashion, and now another fragrance to drive our dukes and gents with. It doesn't come out until later on in September, but I'm telling you I just can't wait. I've been told by a handsome gent or two that they love it when a woman smells good. So take that hint ladies, make sure you smell like a freshly bloomed flower - jasmine, magnolia, rose, or whatever reflects your inner princess - whenever you exit the premises you call home. Don't trip and don't forget. Putting on perfume should be like putting on deoderant. Never and I do mean, never, leave home without it. But I digress, back to B...

Fergie is on the scene doing her fashion thang and what an impressive job she's done so far. Her fresh new line of handbags is called Fergie for Kipling and it features three collections: Nice Scout, Naughty Scout and The Dutchess.

The Fergie for Kipling Nice Scout cellection reflects fashion elements from her Fergalicious video. The bags are leather and are detailed with mesh fabric, silver or bronze-toned zippers and other accents.

The Definition of a Dime

Greetings Divas!

So I just happened to be watching an episode of The Fabulous Life on E! the other day and got to thinking. They're showing all of these fabulous women who maintain their fierceness by getting plastic surgery, starving themselves with liquid diets and doing it all in the name of being a "dime." So here's the question. What really makes a diva a dime? Is it 36-24-36 measurements? A great set of lumineers? A bangin' personality? Or a combination of it all rolled into one divalicious package?

Urban Dictionary.com says a dime is "a very attractive person, a perfect ten."

I was discussing this subject with a friend of mine and we kept coming back to the thought that a stereotypical "dime" was a chick that you would find shaking her fabulous ass in a video or representing on the silver screen. Not necessarily the video hos that we see spreading it from Cali to DC in the name of a good beat, but the one that we all wish we looked like when we woke up in the morning. In case you still don't follow, let me name a few: my ladies in Destiny's Child, Kerry Washington, Ciara, Gabrielle Union, Vivica A. Fox.... need I continue?

It makes me wonder if we consider these women dimes because they represent this image of beauty and perfection or is it because they're beautiful and smart. Let's be real though. Of course we all understand that each and every one of these fashion-forward icons has a team of stylists and make-up artists to make sure they're looking their fiercest every time we see them. So where does that leave us - the ordinary sistas doin' the damn thang at our 9 to 5s, coming home and holdin' it down, still managing to walk with our heads up high and fabulousness in our hearts?

I think it makes us better in a way. Why? Because we don't have 16 extra people to help us be fabulous. Don't get it twisted, though, if presented with the offer to have someone make sure my eyebrows were arched to perfection every day of the week and someone else to hold my umbrella so I don't get wet in the rain -- trust, I'm all over that opportunity. My mama didn't raise no fool. But since I don't and probably won't, I do it all by myself. And that definitely makes me a dime.

So holla at me ladies. You feelin' me? Are you a dime?
